Asian and Pacific countries are actively introducing policies and programs to mainstream climate change considerations into their national development strategies - including climate change adaptation and mitigation efforts. The countries of Asia and the Pacific have the largest climate-vulnerable population in the world and hold the key to global efforts to stabilize atmospheric greenhouse gas concentrations. Although they are taking many positive actions, this is sometimes under-appreciated in international circles. ADB, IGES and NIES are all supporting Asian and Pacific countries in these efforts.
This event will provide an opportunity to highlight actions being taken in the region, with emphasis given to representatives from the countries speaking from their own policy experience. ADB, IGES and NIES will also briefly present some of the support they are providing and insights to help countries of Asia and the Pacific make the transition to low-carbon and climate-resilient development.
The event will highlight what Asian and Pacific countries are doing to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions in their development process and to build their resilience to climate change, with their own resources, and with financial, capacity building and analytical support from the international community.
The event will include a mix of presentations, panel inputs, and discussion - all facilitated by a professional and independent moderator.
