This group should first share understanding of different capabilities among developing countries in terms of adaptation to and mitigation of the climate change. It should then discuss the similarities and differences that exist between SDPAMs (Sustainable Development: Policy and Measures) and approaches to LCS, including both adaptation and mitigation aspects but mostly focusing on the latter. It should also look at where the starting positions between developed and developing countries differ and how sustainable development can deliver a pro-growth strategy whilst also addressing climate concerns. We should aim to be able to deliver statements on what the substance of an SD approach to transitioning to a LCS is and what priorities need to be made in implementing SDPAMs. This group should also consider how to mainstream such an approach into development pathways.
